Boeing cuts corporate strategists in half

Initiative that aims to reorient and manage industrial pressures in the sector

The US Boeing Group, specializing in the aerospace and defense sectors, has undertaken a rationalization of the workforce in its strategic ranks, halving the number of planners working within key divisions. This is an initiative that aims to reorient and manage industry pressures, largely due to the 40 billion dollars in debt resulting from the collapse in travel during the pandemic.

This is what some international media report, citing people familiar with the matter. According to the latter, this would demonstrate the Group's renewed industrial priorities, after Boeing yesterday appointed Stephanie Pope, 51, as the new chief operating officer, a candidate to succeed Dave Calhoun in the role of CEO.

Some critics fear that the increased focus on the Group's operations serves to divert attention from Boeing's long-term future at a crucial stage for the industry. Meanwhile, layoff notices are expected to be sent out this week. The cuts are expected to affect at least 50% of the number of corporate strategists who work daily within Boeing Global Services and Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
