Neptune Aviation: come ti trasformo un A-319 in aereo antincendio

L'operatore progetta con azienda francese la conversione da qui al 2027, col supporto di Airbus

Neptune Aviation Services, con sede in Montana, Usa, ha annunciato un'iniziativa pionieristica per trasformare gli Airbus A-319 in aerei antincendio. La conversione del primo esemplare, che verrà realizzata grazie alla collaborazione con la società specializzata francese Aerotec & Concept, dovrebbe avvenire entro il 2027.

Per Johan Clochet, ceo di Aerotec & Concept, le caratteristiche dell'A-319 sono perfettamente in linea con i requisiti necessari per combattere efficacemente gli incendi di vasta estensione.

Attualmente Neptune Aviation gestisce nove aerei BAe-146/200 AT dalla sua base presso l'aeroporto di Missoula, Montana. Il passaggio all'A-319, afferma l'operatore, aumenterà la capacità di ritardante ad un minimo di 4500 galloni (17.000 litri), un aumento significativo rispetto alla capacità massima di 3000 galloni (11.300 litri) del BAe-146. In poche parole, commenta il presidente di Neptune Aviation, Jennifer Draughon, "Le dimensioni maggiori dell'Airbus e il peso massimo al decollo più elevato consentono una maggiore capacità, migliorando l'efficienza operativa e potenziando la sicurezza dei nostri equipaggi, dei vigili del fuoco a terra e delle comunità che proteggiamo". L'azienda mira ad avere una flotta mista di 10-15 fra A-319 e BAe-146. Airbus fornirà supporto tecnico per garantire che le modifiche soddisfino i requisiti antincendio neccessari.
