Mattarella convenes the Italian Supreme Defense Council

Set for next Thursday in the afternoon

The Italian President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has convened the Supreme Council of Defense, at the Quirinale Palace, for next Thursday, on May 8, 2025 at 5 pm.

The agenda includes assessments of the White Paper on European Defence, national strategic infrastructures, the adaptation of the military instrument and the prospects for the Italian defence industry.

Furthermore, the Council will examine developments in key crisis areas with particular reference to the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and to international and European peace initiatives.
