Leonardo and Indra Group: agreement to work together in the cyber defence field signed

Today in Rome by Roberto Cingolani CEO and General Manager, and by CEO José Vicente de los Mozos

Indra Group and Leonardo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reinforce their cooperation in cyber defence, with the aim of jointly identifying and expanding their international reach within Europe, NATO and in other high-potential markets.

The agreement was signed today at Leonardo’s Headquarters in Rome (Italy) by Indra Group CEO José Vicente de los Mozos and Roberto Cingolani, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Leonardo.

Through this collaboration, the two companies will strength their capabilities to accelerate innovation and reinforce the cyber defence of Institutions and critical infrastructures, providing advanced solutions, specialized training, and a coordinated response to increasingly complex threats.

The agreement also envisages the joint provision of managed cyber defence services for public and private customers.

Ángel Escribano, Indra’s executive chairman, recalled that agreements such as the one that’s been signed “regulate and accelerate European industrial cooperation with clear governance to facilitate flexible joint bids and the rigorous execution of projects. Our role as a trailblazing company will enable us to activate value chains based on sovereign, open, and interoperable capabilities for Europe and NATO, ensuring that the critical knowledge and technological property remain under EU control. With interconnected operations centers, advanced threat intelligence sharing and cyber defence training environments, we can turn the collaboration into strategic autonomy and effective deterrence".

Indra Group CEO José Vicente de los Mozos stated that “this partnership with Leonardo will allow us to accelerate our innovation and launch solutions that strengthen the digital resilience of systems and operations onto the market, expanding our reach and our impact on the protection of essential infrastructures and services. It constitutes a decisive step towards consolidating the European leadership of cyber defence and projecting it to other countries, providing Europe and its allies with a more robust response to the challenges posed by cyberspace".

Roberto Cingolani, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Leonardo, stated:  “In a world where digital threats are evolving rapidly and becoming increasingly pervasive, and in a landscape of fragmented technological capabilities, European defence must innovate, anticipate, and cooperate. This agreement underscores cybersecurity as a core pillar of Leonardo’s industrial plan, scaling up our international presence also through strategic alliances to develop advanced, sovereign technologies designed to protect people, institutions, and infrastructure. By pooling Leonardo's expertise and proprietary technologies in Cyber & Resilience, Secure Digital & Cloud, and Mission Critical Communications, we aim to transform technological innovation into tangible value for our Nations".

By leveraging its product-based approach, Leonardo delivers proprietary platforms tailored for rigorous high demanding sectors like Defence, Space, and Strategic Organizations. Leonardo’s latest partnerships and acquisitions consolidate its “Made in Europe” Zero Trust and data-centric security portfolio. Its Global Cybersec Center - a Trusted, Mission Critical and AI-driven provider of cybersecurity - adopts a logically and geographically federated model to ensure customers' cyber mission assurance.

Under its IndraMind proposal, Indra Group employs 3,000 highly-qualified professionals to address current challenges such as hybrid warfare, protection, and security, applying dual technological solutions designed to guarantee both an operational edge in critical situations and deterrence capacity.
