Circa 2500 militari americani e afghani sono impegnati in un’operazione chiamata "Il leone di montagna-Puma" per riconquistare un territorio strategico nell’est dell’Afghanistan. L’offensiva, appoggiata dall’aeronautica militare Usa, ha effettuato il primo bombardamento aereo mercoledì sera sulla valle di Pech, nella provincia del Kunar, occupata dai ribelli talebani.
