Il governo delle Filippine avrebbe manifestato l'intenzione di acquistare dall'Italia alcuni aerei da trasporto G-222. Questa scelta sarebbe indice dell'accresciuta collaborazione tra i due paesi nel campo della difesa, e le Filippine avrebbero anche già indicato gli aggiornamenti di cui vorrebbero disporre per questo velivolo. L'Italia sostituirà i G-222 con il più moderno C-27J Spartan.
