F/A-18E: dal 2006 anche aero-cisterna

Washington, USA - La General Dynamics si occuperà dello sviluppo dei nuovi serbatoi ausiliari

Gli F/A-18E Super Hornet verranno dotati della capacità di operare come rifornitori di carburante in volo attraverso lo studio di appositi serbatoi ausiliari esterni. Sarà la General Dynamics ad occuparsene e gli F/A-18 potranno volare con 5 tanks in posizione sub-alare e ventrale. Il provvedimento incrementerà le capacità operative degli aerei della marina statunitense a partire dal 2006.
