Military aircraft. Croatia: urgent purchases

Negotiations in progress with the USA and Sweden, the agreement for F-16 from Israel has disappeared

Vanished the conclusion of the agreement for the supply of more F-16 American multi-role fighter planes decommissioned by Israel, as Tel-Aviv has not received approval from the United States, now Zagreb is looking around because of the urgent need to acquire new combat aircraft to modernize its now obsolete military fleet. Negotiations are underway with the Pentagon and Sweden, Croatian Defense Minister Damir Krsticevic said today.

The Croatian Air Force has been struggling for at least twenty years now in search of valid substitutes for its dated Mig-21, among the pressing requests of NATO (of which it became part in 2009; in 2013 instead its entry in the EU), and the limits of the budget allocated to defense. To underline that in March of this year only 4 Mig-21 Fishbed (a single-seater and three two-seater) of the 12 in the organic were operating. The fleet therefore falls to pieces. In the fallen through F-16 affair, Israel competed with the Swedish Saab offering its Gripens. And it is certainly there that Zagreb went to knock.
